This is the official February 2026 newsletter from Trekkers Laager IX, featuring feedback from their January 2026 outspan at Willows.
The newsletter opens with warm greetings, lists apologies (Barkhuizen, Bowles, Day, Louw), visitors (Lydia; Charl’s Fishwife and Family; The Day Family), and thanks to the Roberts family (Master & Scribe), Dustin for extra wood, everyone who joined the communal breakfast, Charl for diesel and generator, Gail for Strawberry Lips shooters, the committee and Amanda for jaffles, and Darren & Liande for their 150 commemorative music trivia evening. Special appreciation is given to all who supported the ice-cream and jaffle sales.
Floating trophies are handed over: Moerstok (Tyrone to Ursula), Spanner (Lourens to Charl), Spoon (Warwick Family – to be awarded in April), Woody Trophy (Dudley), Sanitation Award (Cindy until next AGM), Fishing Award (Troy to Stefan), Putt Putt Trophy (Troy to Kevin), Darts Trophy (Rozanne), and Potjiekos Trophy (Nola Holmes). Clear rules are given for passing trophies on (with R10 escalating fines if not done).
Participation badges were awarded to Sophia, Riley, Troy, and Chelsea. Congratulations go to Kevin as Jakkals, who raised R169 – remember to hand Jakkals over in person (no WhatsApp!) to someone of the opposite sex.
Important news includes upcoming fundraisers for the AGM and a new rule: after Jakkals finishes fining, the floor opens for additional fines (no double-fining the same offence). General reminders cover following on arrival, the First Aid kit with Rozanne Day, no cigarette butts on the ground, and watching language around children at the fire.
The newsletter explains the meaning of each floating trophy and lists current outing numbers for members, plus commemoratives for McLeod (300) and White (350).
Full details for the next outing at Jeffreys Bay (20–22 February 2026) are included:
A perfect monthly catch-up for Laager IX members and anyone who enjoys fun, friendly caravan and camping weekends with great camaraderie
