Laager 21’s January outspan at Bergenwater delivered everything a true camping weekend should—beautiful weather, great company, and a refreshing river that became the heart of the experience. With some members arriving early to secure their spots and soak up the surroundings, the weekend quickly gained momentum as more campers joined in the festivities.

Friday evening kicked off on a celebratory note, as members gathered to enjoy Eugene’s birthday with cocktails, cake, and cheerful camaraderie around the ever-popular geselsvuur. Laughter and stories carried well into the night, setting the tone for the rest of the weekend.

Saturday brought soaring temperatures, but the river offered the perfect escape, with many campers spending the day cooling off and unwinding. A breakfast outing added a social touch, while the evening came alive with a vibrant street braai, rugby discussions, and a memorable live music performance by Tai, whose talent brought everyone together in song—some more in tune than others!

Sunday saw a more relaxed pace as members gathered for the indaba, sharing updates and enjoying a practical fire safety demonstration. As always, the weekend wrapped up with the traditional group photo, final swims, and farewells as everyone packed up and headed home safely.
